Description

This important new full-day course will cover current clinical information related to breast cancer, its diagnosis, and treatment options relevant to rehabilitation providers. Examination skills will be discussed and practiced for effective and successful treatment outcomes. Therapeutic interventions will be introduced for immediate application in the clinic. In addition, case studies will be reviewed to present individualized examination and treatment management.

Objectives

By the completion of the workshop the participant will be able to correctly:

  1. Discuss the pathophysiology of breast cancer.
  2. Describe tumor classification, staging, and grading.
  3. Identify the potential side effects of breast cancer and/or cancer treatment relevant to physical therapy and/or occupational therapy.
  4. Recognize the precautions, red flags, and warning signs when examining and treating patients with breast cancer.

Jennifer Hayes, PT
Jennifer Hayes, PT graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Masters of Physical Therapy in 2004. In 2006, she went on to obtain training as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist through the Norton School of Lymphatic Study. Since that time, she has worked in outpatient and inpatient settings, with a primary focus on Lymphedema and Cancer Related Impairments. Jennifer was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Cancer Rehab Program at Advocate Christ Medical Center during her tenure there, and continues to work with patients who have lymphedema and/or cancer related impairments at Franciscan Health in Indiana. Jennifer has participated in educating staff on the benefits of Cancer Rehabilitation, and recently assisted with teaching the Chicago Lymphedema Certification class for the Norton School of Lymphatic Study.

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
