This new workshop offers PT/OT clinicians more tools to connect with, educate, and motivate patients and clients by linking the optimal health and performance of companion, service, and therapy dogs with the healthy function of the human.

• Commonalities in dog and human nutrition needs
• Motivating patients through learning about and caring for dogs
• Parallels in healthy lifestyle strategies
• Implications for dogs working in healthcare and related settings
• Incorporating body mechanics training, balance training, and cognitive stimulation for humans during similar dog enrichment activities
• Selecting appropriate exercises, activity, and movement for both ends of the leash

Objectives

By the completion of this course the participant will be able to:

1. Describe similarities in optimizing canine and human wellness.
2. Identify strategies to facilitate behavior modification in patients to reduce fear, improve self-reliance, increase interaction during therapeutic activities, and sustain gains after discontinuing a PT/OT episode of care.
3. Apply the concept of NUDGES to benefit both humans and canines.
4. Offer resources for patients, clients, and caregivers involved with companion, service, and therapy dogs.

Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
