Form, Function, and Fascia - Finding and Fixing the Myofascial Links between where your client says it hurts, and where it is actually tweaked.

Presented by Rehab Connections

Description

You’ve heard about the concept of regional interdependence right? In a nutshell, this concept suggests pain and dysfunction in one area of the body can be treated with interventions to adjacent regions. Classic examples include treating the hip and ankle for knee pain and the thoracic spine and ribs for neck and shoulder dysfunction.

What research is uncertain of though, is why and how does this work? Is it possible the missing links haven’t been rooted in traditional biomechanics, but rather in the interconnected myofascial links throughout your body?

Form, Function and Fascia will provide you a framework to immediately use when evaluating your next client’s posture and aberrant movement patterns, as well as some manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and self-management strategies you can start to implement with your clients to correct how they move and reduce their painful          .

While this is not a bed-sheet and massage free-up creme course, participants should come prepared to move and be seen in sports bra, shorts and underwear.

Instruction level: Intermediate
CE contact hours: 8.0 (IL) *** Duration: 7.0 hours
Intended audience: PTs, OTs

Objectives

By the completion of the course the participant will be able to:

  1. Understand and apply the proposed interconnected myofascial links running along the body.
  2. Understand how inhibitions and limitations in parts of the myofascial link can result in pain elsewhere.
  3. Use an evaluation strategy to identify restricted soft-tissues affecting your client’s complaints.
  4. Implement a combination of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and self-management techniques to correct underlying imbalances in the myofascial links.

IMPORTANT! 2-3 days prior to the CE event, you will receive your CE materials and Zoom registration link by email. This gives you the opportunity to preview, download or print, save, and refer back to the information at any time. If you do not receive your CE material please contact us before the day of the course or workshop.
