Description

Why not do SLRs? Can exercise "correct" a leg length discrepancy? When is manual therapy essential?

This important new course reviews common protocols and restrictions while presenting a plethora of ideas and effective interventions for your patients in the hospital, home and outpatient settings following total and partial hip and knee replacement. Lab will include soft tissue techniques and joint mobilization that can immediately impact pain and ROM. In addition, basic beginner exercises will be performed with unique facilitation techniques to improve ROM and decrease pain and swelling, then intermediate progressions will emphasize gait and functional strength, including step exercises.

Objectives

By the completion of this course the participant will be able to correctly:

  1. Identify 1 key functional exercise progression for his/her current practice setting.
  2. Perform 10 therapeutic exercises with cues representing skilled intervention.
  3. List 3 key components of reassessment to modify therapeutic exercises and therapeutic activities.
  4. Perform 3 manual therapy techniques for hip or knee joint hypomobility.
  5. Identify 3 methods to assess subjective and functional changes following joint and soft tissue mobilization.
  6. Explain the rationale for 3 common restrictions following lower extremity joint arthroplasty.

Mandi Ehler, PTA
Mandi joined Rehab Connections in order to follow her passion for continuing education. Her experience in the physical therapy profession spans almost 10 years. She has also helped to develop a unique PT/PTA practice model that utilizes her expertise and experience with billing, coding, and collections. Her clinical interests include canine rehabilitation, the Feldenkrais Method, Movement System Syndromes (Shirley Sahrmann), and Functional Mobilization™ (Institute of Physical Art).

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
