Description
What really works to treat balance deficits? Integrated Balance Strategies is a lab focused course that will help you understand how to assess and treat all body systems that contribute to postural stability. You will take away many new tools that you will be able to use right away to improve your patient’s balance in new ways. We will examine a variety of standardized tests and examine how they measure balance and predict falls. Are you using the most effective tools? Learn how to test and address vestibular disorders and gaze stabilization. Learn strategies on how to prevent falls in patients with a variety of diagnosis including cognitive impairment and visual deficits. Additionally, all internal and external risk factors for falls will be identified and solutions will be revealed.

Objectives
By the completion of the course the participant will be able to correctly:
- Describe the role of at least 2 body systems involved with balance.
- Perform 6 different standardized tests that measure balance.
- Perform and teach 4 different ways to treat balance.
- Upgrade 4 different exercises to increase the challenge.

Sarah is a doctor of physical therapy and Vice President of Clinical
Strategies for HealthPRO-Heritage. She is responsible for development
and implementation of a wide range of evidence based clinical programs
for the entire continuity of care with a large focus on adapting to
healthcare reform, improving outcomes and increased quality measures.
She provides clinical field support to ensure successful application of
clinical programming, outcome tracking, and marketability of programs
while considering fiscal impact of new programs. She presents
in-services and trainings to therapists, facilities, and regional teams,
provides clinical support to ensure accurate tracking of outcome data
and use of outcome measures. She is an expert in program development,
evidence-based practice, outcome measure utilization and statistical
analysis of data.
Sarah has taught evidence-based continuing education classes for nine years. Her clinical specialties are the spine, vestibular and balance disorders. She has treated older adults in outpatient, hospital and subacute rehabilitation settings. Sarah is McKenzie certified and is a certified yoga instructor. Sarah’s classes provide a holistic approach to evaluation and treatment and incorporate a variety of learning approaches.

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per
session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received
more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance
of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another
individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for
cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically,
including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits
will expire September 26, 2026.
Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event
up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will
not be responsible for any charges incurred by the
registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other
than the CE event tuition.
