This examination course utilizes an algorithm that helps physical therapists diagnose the generators of low back pain and pelvic pain, utilizing an eclectic approach.  This new topic will have extensive lab time for physical assessment and manual therapy.   Tests and measurements will be evidence-based and will incorporate repeated movements, manual therapy assessment, assessment for core stabilization, and assessment of the sacroiliac joint.  In addition, treatment ideas including manual therapy will provide hands-on techniques so attendees will be active and engaged throughout this new, full day course.

Philip Toal, PT, DPT is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating with a doctor of physical therapy degree. He has also completed an Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency at the Institute of Therapeutic Science (ITS) as well as a Fellowship in Orthopaedic and Manual Physical Therapy. Dr. Toal is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, is Certified in Orthopaedic and Manual Physical Therapy, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic and Manual Physical Therapists and is a Certified Clinical Instructor. He is the Program Director for the Cleveland Clinic’s Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency. He is the Clinical Rehab Manager at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Health and Wellness Center in Bath, Ohio. Currently, he serves as adjunct faculty at ITS for its residency program, is Adjunct Faculty in Cleveland State University’s DPT program teaching manual therapy and complex conditions for extremities, and teaches continuing education courses to other PTs nationally. Dr. Toal is also co-owner of Tier One Education, an Ohio based continuing education company.

This course is 8.0 CE contact hours (IL). We will have a 1/2 hour lunch and limited breaks.
We recommend that you bring a lunch -- a small refrigerator and microwave will be available at the Education and Training Center in Homer Glen!

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
