Description

Of the many functions of a muscular system, movement and the maintenance of body position is the main focus of this orthopedic course. While this complex system of muscles coordinate and operate efficiently, it can also be a source of dysfunction. This course provides an eclectic approach drawing from multiple theories and strategies giving the clinician a greater opportunity for treatment success. This course provides a delivery format of lecture, demonstration, and lab giving the attendee an opportunity to learn and hone skills and to effectively treat imbalances of the muscular system.

Objectives

By the completion of the course the participant will be able to:

  1. Compare and contrast two of the approaches toward muscular dysfunction.
  2. Define the difference between adaptive shortening and muscular facilitation.
  3. Identify 2 of the common postural disorders and apply treatment techniques.
  4. Recognize the common movement dysfunctions of the spine, upper and lower extremities.
  5. Apply at least one treatment option for each movement dysfunction.

Brian Trembly has developed and taught a variety of continuing education courses for nearly 15 years. He graduated in 1999 with a master’s in physical therapy from Grand Valley State University in Michigan and earned a transitional doctorate in physical therapy in 2009 from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Brian is recognized as a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). He also holds certifications in manual therapy by the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and soft tissue manual tool level 1 by Medical Minds in Motion. Brian currently works in private practice treating a variety of orthopaedic and sports conditions with an emphasis in manual therapy.

We recommend that you bring a lunch -- a small refrigerator and microwave will be available at the Education and Training Center in Homer Glen!

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
