Topics

• Explanation of implicit bias and definitions including implicit, stereotypes, assumptions, beliefs, judgment, and more
• The difference between explicit and implicit biases
• Causes of implicit bias; how they form, operate, and apply personally and professionally
• Effects of implicit bias, the harms they cause
• Recognizing, interrupting, and mitigating implicit bias with strategies to reduce implicit bias in your setting

Objectives

By the completion of this training you will be able to correctly:

1. Recognize a variety of biases particularly those that are implicit or unconscious.
2. Describe increased self-awareness of implicit biases that may impact the clinician-patient relationship and subsequent treatment outcomes.

Objectives

By the completion of this training you will be able to correctly:

1. Describe updated diagnostic guidelines for the three stages of Alzheimer's disease including the core clinical criteria for the diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment.
2. Identify key components in the management and support of individuals with cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
