Description

Remember "proximal stability for distal mobility" from PNF? Therapeutic exercise including neuromuscular re-education is a key intervention of physical therapy and occupational therapy, and core stabilization is a key component that is integral to optimal function. In this new full day course, a variety of core/trunk strengthening techniques are emphasized plus exercises are introduced to target cervical spine and scapular stabilizers and functional stability at the knee.

Objectives

By the completion of this course the participant will be able to correctly:

  1. Perform 3 of 5 functional strength tests for lumbopelvic stabilization.
  2. Identify the purpose, 1 verbal or tactile cue, and 1 progressiion for each therapeutic exercise performed during lab sessions.
  3. Discuss 3 variations and/or modifications for the isometric programs as presented.
  4. Demonstrate 2 functional movements with trunk musculature facilitated by a prop to cue optimal postural alignment.
  5. Describe 1 application of 2 pieces of specialty equipment for advanced functional, dynamic stabilization training.
  6. Identify 3 professional articles that studied the efficacy of core or lumbar stabilization exercises.

This course is 8.0 CE contact hours (IL). We will have a 1/2 hour lunch and limited breaks.
We recommend that you bring a lunch -- a small refrigerator and microwave will be available at the Education and Training Center in Homer Glen!

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
