This one - day introductory course will provide knowledge and skills in edema management and enable you to immediately apply practical information upon return to the clinic.

Edema may manifest following post surgical interventions, post traumatic injuries, vascular insufficiency as well as lymphatic insufficiency. As we know, acute and chronic edema that goes unresolved will impair the functional outcome of rehabilitation. The principles of treatment will be discussed as well as an introduction to manual drainage techniques and layered compression wrapping. This course will prepare non-lymphedema certified therapist to be successful with the management and triage of edema.

Topics

• Physiology of lymphedema and chronic edema
• Introduction of manual drainage techniques
• Introduction of layered compression bandaging
• Kinesiotaping techniques to facilitate drainage
• Application to traditional patients with edema
• Identification and triage of patients requiring comprehensive lymphedema intervention

Objectives

1. Understand basic anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic and venous systems
2. Differentiate various types of edema
3. Understand indications/contraindications of compression bandaging
4. Perform basic management of edema in the clinic
5. Know when to refer to a certified lymphedema therapist

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
