Description

This 2-day course is designed to teach therapists the most current clinical skills to manage edema. Participants will leave the course with the knowledge and skills needed to immediately begin managing patients with edema issues. Assessment and treatment approaches are thoroughly explained and practiced during laboratory components of the course.

Lymphedema is a potential complication of cancer treatments, vascular issues and trauma. It may occur in either the upper lower extremity and can cause significant disability including decreased ROM, decreased limb strength and decreased functional abilities.

The course will focus on teaching the basic anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system in conjunction with the manual skills required to reduce limb volume. This course provides participants with the skills to achieve successful outcomes and develop self-management programs for each individual patient.
