This seminar will provide a practical and comprehensive evidence based approach for assessing, preventing and rehabilitating injuries of aging adults in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, and home care.

Objectives

By the completion of the course the participant will be able to:

  1. Discuss the key clinically significant anatomical and physiological changes in the aging adult that can impact exercise.
  2. Understand and be able to select and perform the best research-based functional tests for assessing aging adults.
  3. Understand the key assessment tools and treatment concepts involved in fall prevention.
  4. Understand the role and application of functional exercise in a rehab program.
  5. Prescribe evidence based exercises for strength, flexibility, and balance.

Michael Kett, PT, MS, CEEAA
Michael is an APTA certified exercise expert for aging adults with over thirty years of experience in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient clinics, hospitals, and home care.  Michael received his master’s degree in exercise physiology, and has taught at Northwestern University Physical Therapy School and Illinois Benedictine College.  He has spoken nationally on fitness, rehab, and sports medicine related topics.  His book Applied Magic utilizes magic as a therapeutic tool to make therapy more fun while achieving functional improvement.  His passion for working with aging adults stems from his personal and professional interest in fitness and its powerful impact on the aging process.

This course is 8.0 CE contact hours (IL). We will have a 1/2 hour lunch and limited breaks.
We recommend that you bring a lunch -- a small refrigerator and microwave will be available at the Education and Training Center in Homer Glen!

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
