This one-day course presents an eclectic method to the treatment of joint dysfunction drawing from multiple philosophies. Lecture, demonstration, and guided lab practice in a variety of manual therapy techniques will allow the occupational and physical therapy professional to gain efficiency in evaluating and treating joint dysfunctions in the upper and lower extremities. This course is ideal for anyone wanting strategies to uncover potential contributors of chronic ankle sprains, impingement syndromes, tendon inflammation & tears, bursitis, muscle strains, and more.

Morning session addresses the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand.

Objectives

By the completion of the course the participant will be able to:

  1. Apply mechanical concepts for effective joint mobilization for the extremities.
  2. Improve examination skills of the orthopaedic patient.
  3. Problem solve common dysfunctions more effectively using key objective findings.
  4. Identify the difference between soft tissue restrictions and joint mobility.
  5. Assess the degree of joint mobility being tested and identify the direction(s) of restrictions.
  6. Identify hypermobility/instability, its direction, and strategize measures for protection.
  7. Perform traditional, functional, and weight bearing joint mobilization techniques as presented with consideration of patient comfort, body mechanics, hand position, direction, and amount of force.
  8. Reinforce techniques through appropriate and effective therapeutic exercises including home exercise programs and progressions.

Brian Trembly has developed and taught a variety of continuing education courses for nearly 15 years. He graduated in 1999 with a master’s in physical therapy from Grand Valley State University in Michigan and earned a transitional doctorate in physical therapy in 2009 from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Brian is recognized as a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). He also holds certifications in manual therapy by the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and soft tissue manual tool level 1 by Medical Minds in Motion. Brian currently works in private practice treating a variety of orthopaedic and sports conditions with an emphasis in manual therapy.

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
