Description

This course offers an in-depth look at the theories and techniques of the manual art of muscle energy. You will learn how to effectively use muscle energy to improve joint position, mobility, and function. Lecture, demonstration, and lab practice in muscle energy techniques will allow the physical therapy professional another tool to effectively treat your patients.

Objectives

By the completion of the course the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe the history of muscle energy.
  2. Discuss basic principles of effective muscle energy.
  3. Incorporate mechanical principles to spinal, upper, and lower extremity treatment.
  4. Assess the degree of joint mobility and appropriately apply muscle energy techniques.
  5. Perform techniques with consideration for patient comfort, body mechanics, hand position, direction, and amount of force.

Brian Trembly, PT, DPT

Brian Trembly has developed and taught a variety of continuing education courses for nearly 15 years. He graduated in 1999 with a master’s in physical therapy from Grand Valley State University in Michigan and earned a transitional doctorate in physical therapy in 2009 from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Brian is recognized as a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). He also holds certifications in manual therapy by the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and soft tissue manual tool level 1 by Medical Minds in Motion. Brian currently works in private practice treating a variety of orthopaedic and sports conditions with an emphasis in manual therapy.

This course is 8.0 CE contact hours (IL). We will have a 1/2 hour lunch and limited breaks.
We recommend that you bring a lunch -- a small refrigerator and microwave will be available at the Education and Training Center in Homer Glen!

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
