Concepts in Strain and Counterstrain

Description

This one day introductory course presents the neurophysiological basis for Jones Strain and Counterstrain (S/CS), and introduces basic evaluation and treatment methods for the most commonly encountered neuromuscular dysfunctions of the spine and extremities.
Lecture, demonstration, and lab practice in Strain and Counterstrain will provide the physical therapy professional with theoretical basis for somatic dysfunction, and allow each participant to experience and apply the evaluation and treatment techniques presented.

Objectives

At the completion of this course you will be able to:

  1. Discuss the neurophysiological rationale for Jones Strain and Counterstrain.
  2. Discuss the basics of evaluating and treating tender points, and the general rules that apply.
  3. Successfully locate a number of selected Strain and Counterstrain tenderpoints.
  4. Successfully position a lab partner in the optimum treatment position for a selected tenderpoint where a “mobile point” can be palpated.

Kevin Cronin, PT, ATC, JSCC
Kevin Cronin has been a licensed physical therapist since 1980, and an athletic trainer since 1979. He has utilized Strain and Counterstrain in his physical therapy practice for 14 years, served as an assistant instructor with the Jones Institute since 1995, and became certified in Jones Strain and Counterstrain with the first group of practitioners to receive the distinction, in August 2003. Mr. Cronin is the owner of Advanced Rehabilitation Clinics, Inc., a provider of outpatient orthopedic physical therapy, with locations in the city and suburbs of Chicago.

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
