Description

This course presents an instructional lecture and lab/demonstration on the assessment and management of patients with tendinopathy. Tendon structure, its biomechanics and its pathophysiology will be discussed including the implications for physical therapy and evidence-based treatment strategies.

By the completion of the course the participant will be able to:

  1. Understand normal structure and function of tendons.
  2. Understand the pathophysiology of tendinopathy.
  3. Consistently recognize patients with tendinopathy.
  4. Apply evidence-based exercise interventions for tendinopathy.
  5. Recognize regional and global considerations in treating patients with tendinopathy.

Presenter

Michael Maninang, PT, DPT, MBA, MHS, OCS, FAAOMPT
Michael is currently working as a program director/coordinator for a fellowship program in orthopaedic manual physical therapy at the University of Chicago Medicine (UCM). He has also been teaching at UCM's orthopaedic physical therapy residency program for the last 5 years in addition to doing clinical work. His post-professional education started with the Ola Grimsby Institute (OGI) where he spent four years of manual therapy training doing Part I manual therapy residency program from 1995 to 1996 and Part II manual therapy residency program from 1998 to 1999. He obtained a Master of Orthopedic Manual Therapy degree when he finished the Part I program with the OGI. He was recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists in 2001 and became board-certified in Orthopedic Physical therapy with the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 1999. In addition to his manual therapy education, he also pursued a Master of Health Science degree in orthopedic physical therapy from the University of Indianapolis, which he obtained in 1998. His quest for continued learning led him to study at Boston University where he graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2008. He also obtained a Master of Business Administration from Walden University in 2011. He obtained certifications in spinal/extremity manipulative therapy and dry needling from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Science degree at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI.

We recommend that you bring a lunch -- a small refrigerator and microwave will be available at the Education and Training Center in Homer Glen!

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
