Description

Walking is the world's oldest exercise and the average person walks the equivalent distance of 3.5 times around the world during their lifetime!

This unique, enlightening continuing education opportunity takes walking "a step further" by presenting practical, therapeutic applications of walking for a variety of adult patients receiving physical therapy or occupational therapy. This course will help you provide the skilled PT/OT intervention that is necessary to develop an individualized, therapeutic walking program for your patient then transition it to walking for fitness and health benefits.

Objectives

By the completion of this course the participant will be able to correctly:

  1. Describe 5 physical benefits of walking.
  2. Apply 4 benefits of Nordic walking to specific clinical populations.
  3. Discuss skilled intervention related to walking for patients in one diagnostic category.
  4. Compare proposed benefits to potential problems of rocker bottom shoes.
  5. Define lower extremity joint ROM requirements for walking.

We recommend that you bring a lunch -- a small refrigerator and microwave will be available at the Education and Training Center in Homer Glen!

Cancellations:
Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 10 days in advance of the CE event. Cancellations made less than 10 days in advance of the CE event date forfeit the entire tuition fee. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another CE event, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the CE event, or when handouts or other CE event materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
All unapplied transfers and credits will expire September 26, 2026.

Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the CE event up to one week prior to the CE event. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the CE event tuition.
